Born in Miami, Florida, John Camacho has been writing songs and poems since he was a boy. He began his classical piano studies at the age of five and wrote his first poem when he was eight. After high school he founded and fronted celebrated South Florida bands the Goods and Mongo before shifting focus exclusively to verse. He studied poetry with renowned poets Campbell McGrath, Denise Duhamel and Dorianne Laux and subsequently published numerous poems in journals and magazines across the US and Europe. After this season of words, he began writing new music for Messiah Has Come, with whom he has performed in venues throughout the country. He is currently in the process of completing his first book of poetry and his original music and songs can be heard in films and TV shows. In 2014, he was one of 14 pianists in the world to be selected to take part in the prestigious Dublin International Piano Festival. While in Ireland, he performed original songs at churches throughout the Emerald Isle. He now lives with his family in Boone, NC, where he does readings, classical recitals and concerts with his band High Country Rhythm & Soul band, Depot Street. He is affectionately known as the Bard of Boone.
